Joyce C. Lucas, 92, of Cambridge, passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2024, in Lincolnton, North Carolina.
She was born April 18, 1932, in Byesville, daughter of the late Harry R. Oakley Sr. and Doris A. (Peyton) Oakley.
Mrs. Lucas retired from Penney's. She had also worked at Bell Nursing Home and Wal-Mart.
She enjoyed cooking, baking, and reading.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Lucas, who died in 2002; three daughters, Cindy Wells, Beth Cross, and Kelly Williams; two granddaughters, Sara and Trisha; her brother, Harry "Bud" Oakley and her sisters-in-law, Mildred and Judy Oakley.
She is survived by two brothers, Robert Oakley of Cambridge, and James "Pete" (& Sandy) Oakley of Cambridge; a sister, Pat (& Bob) Wilhelm of Byesville; three grandchildren, Seth Cross of Cambridge, Timmy Williams of Cambridge, and Lisa (David) Rhyne of Lincolnton, NC; fourteen great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
